SeiMilano park competition
SeiMilano park, located in the southwest quadrant of Milan, as part of a 330,000 m2 urban redevelopment project, was designed to highlight the geometries of cultivated land typical of the semi-urban areas of the Milanese hinterland, thus recalling the relationship between agriculture and the city. The competition required also the design of two pedestrian walkways to connect the two parts separated by the canal located within the park.
A sign of colour as a visual identity in the park landscape
The two pedestrian crossing walkways are made of Cor-ten steel structures and treated with the same plant species that characterize the entire project. The wooden deck is enriched, on one side with coloured essences designed to obtain different seasonal blooms, on the other with a wisteria pergola that spatially amplifies its value.
Cor-ten, a metal “live” like the plants that surround it, is characterized by high mechanical strength. It has a remarkable durability, thanks in part to its self-protective coating that protects it from the elements, reduced maintenance costs compared to wooden walkways, an aspect that integrates well with the natural landscape and 100% recyclability.
