An amphitheatre on the sea
This project for an amphitheatre on the sea to be built in Liguria, in the province of Imperia, intends to refer to the same design philosophy to revive cultural experiences characterized by a perfect environmental insertion where a Mediterranean-type nature participates closely in the definition of space.
The Greek theatres of Tindari (4th° century BC), Heraclea Minoa (3rd° century BC) and the Roman one of Milos (4th° century AD) are still distinguished today by their design, natural insertion in front of the sea and perfect acoustics, offering ideal environments for theatrical and musical performances.
The development of the hemicycle and its slope faithfully reflect the patterns of the past. A large circular pergola at the top of the hill houses the photovoltaic system which serves to guarantee a large part of the needs of the night lighting system. Access is from both the seaside and the back of the hill, with a path that winds through native essences and shrubs. The scenic space, surrounded by a veil of water, is made up of various stone surfaces that allow it to host an entire symphony orchestra and set up any type of scenography, with a natural background of great impact.
